Jan Gallagher, Storeyland Cavaliers
Jan began a serious interest in dogs in 1974 when she purchased a Miniature Schnauzer, named Max. Max was an incorrigible scamp, who spent all his free time running away from home. This behavior compelled Jan to seek obedience training and soon she was hooked on training dogs.
Jan is a former President of the Alamo Dog Obedience Club and has trained and taught all levels of obedience along with putting titles on many Miniature Schnauzers and now Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.
In 1978, Jan visited friends in England and met her first Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, a tri bitch named Emma. Emma offered to warm any guest's bed, keep an emply lap filled and certainly joined a guest for tea and biscuits. What an ambassador for the breed!
Jan researched the breed and purchased "Punch" (Mexican CH. Ormaston Augustus, CD, Mex. PC) in 1983. Two years later, "Judy" (CKCSC CH. Ormaston Octavia, CD) joined the family. They became the foundation for Storeyland Cavaliers.
Jan is an AKC and CKCSC-USA Judge. Each show and venue has provided opportunities to view a variety of exhibits and gain a more "Skilled eye for judging." The subsequent years of owning, breeding, exhibiting and judging Cavalier King Charles Spaniels have been the source for the development of many enjoyable friendships. The information and knowledge shared by dedicated Cavalier King Charles Spaniel breeders and enthusiasts has been invaluable.
